Our Te Matapuna/Localised Curriculum is a living document which is designed with the intent to provide rich opportunities and coherent pathways for all akonga, through the sharing of and learning through local purakau (stories).

This kaupapa and its practises brings a multitude of positive aspects to our school culture, staff, to all our students, their whānau and the wider community by:

• ensuring that all learners are centered, are anchored and have a rich authentic understanding about how they connect to the whenua around them, how they connect to their maunga, their awa, their tīpuna; enveloping a strong sense of security, and grounding.

• establishing an inclusive school culture that values whanaungatanga, manaakitanga, mana motuhake and the importance of tuakiritanga.

• strengthening relationships between teachers, akongā, whānau, hapū and iwi.

• strengthening our knowledge and participation in matters such as tangihanga, welcoming and farewelling guest/staff at our school, through mihi, waiata, haka, karakia, whaikorero, karanga.

• creating a welcoming environment where the moment akonga, parents, whānau and manuhiri step in the gates of our kura they can see and feel that this is a place where Tūwharetoatanga is valued and normalised.

• creating an environment which strengthens student identity and cultural understandings whilst developing leaders in both Te Ao Māori me Te Ao Pākeha.
